Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder support group
Published: Monday, October 2, 2023
Did you know that Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the most common non-genetic cause of learning disability and a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition? Did you also know that research now suggests that FASD affects 1.8 percent of children in the United Kingdom (almost twice as many as autism)?
We recognise that this may affect many adopted children and we are pleased to recommend FASD Friends which is a support group for families affected by FASD. The group was initially set up by two adoptive families who have experience of children who have been affected by FASD. They provide:
- Free monthly meetings with refreshments (children are also welcome to attend)
- A safe and supportive place to share experiences
- Signposting to other support and resources
To find out more about the group and book to attend a meeting you can contact the Rainbow Parents Carers Forum on admin@rainbowpcf.org.uk. Please also see the FASD Friends flyer for more information.
